In 2011, Williamstown Lacrosse Club mourned the loss of a cherished member, family figure, and dear friend, Dave Palmer, affectionately known as Uncle Dave. A passionate supporter of Williamstown sports, Uncle Dave held a special place in his heart for the Lacrosse Club. To commemorate his legacy, the club launched the Uncle Dave Palmer Family Day in 2011, a day-long event that encourages families to spend quality time together at the club.
We host multiple home games at Fearon Reserve, alongside engaging clinics and an array of food, drinks, and entertainment throughout the day. The highlight of the event is the State League Fixture, which concludes the day’s activities.
This year, we are excited to announce that our Uncle Dave Palmer Family Day will take place on Saturday, May 20th, in conjunction with the 1963, 1973, 1983, and 2003 Premiership Reunions. Notably, 2023 marks the 60th anniversary of the club’s golden era, which began in 1963 with its first “A” grade premiership victory against fierce rival Malvern, with a final score of 22-14.
